Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test

On Tuesday, all our Grade 10 students and a number of students in Grade 11 and 12 will be writing the EQAO Literacy Test. As you may know, a student needs to pass this test to fulfill one of the components for graduation. Since the number of writers is large at St FX, we will have to do a bit of shuffling of classrooms to ensure that a number of the guidelines required by EQAO are met. We believe this restructuring of classrooms for the day helps to ensure the students writing are given the best possible scenario for success. Please ensure that if your child is writing that day, that he or she makes every effort to be at school on time. There is no other opportunity to write this test until the following year. Here is a link to the EQAO website that you may want your child to look over and review to help prepare them for Tuesday to augment preparation that has been done at school to date: http://www.eqao.com/en/assessments/OSSLT/Pages/sample-osslt.aspx

Please help to ensure your child gets a good night sleep and has had some breakfast that morning too to help with their energy level and concentration. EQAO strictly prohibits any access to personal electronic devices. As a best practice, these devices should be kept at home that day. Otherwise, they will need to be left in their locker.
