Principal's Message (Update to Parents - Back to School)

To our St. Francis Xavier Parent/Guardian Community;

Despite the many challenges associated with a return to school in the midst of a pandemic, I certainly hope you have had time to enjoy a safe and restful summer period. I wanted to let our parent community know that we are currently working on a number of fronts to ensure a safe return to school for our students. All school boards in the province have been waiting on the Ministry's decision regarding our back to school plan. While this was shared last week, all boards must have their own plans approved by the ministry. This should happen for us this week, with some specifics around our schedule organized for next week. At that time, I will share all the information I have with our parent/guardian community. Thank you for your patience thus far. Some other considerations at this time:
  • Earlier in the summer, the Ottawa Catholic School Board surveyed parents asking them to indicate if they were considering having their children learn from home to begin the 2020-2021 school year. The board is going to put out another survey, so if you wanted to change your original submission, or didn't submit at the time and are reviewing your response, you will get another chance to do so. This survey will likely come out at the beginning of next week.

  • Our St. Francis Xavier yearbooks will be handed out as soon as we have a process that will ensure social distancing. We also have a number of other safety considerations to consider as we begin the school year. Please be patient with this process and know that we are very eager to get these great books into the hands of our students.
Thank you,
Sean Kelly
