Newsletter 

As we enter the final week of the 2025–2026 school year, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of our students, staff, and St. Francis Xavier families for being such an important part of our school community this year. This will be our final newsletter post of the school year.

Grades 7 and 8 final report cards will be distributed at the end of the day on Wednesday, June 24, and are also scheduled to be posted to the Parent Portal.

Semester 2 high school report cards are scheduled to be released on Thursday, July 2, through the Parent Portal. Please note that report cards are typically available after 5:00 p.m. on the day they are posted.

We are already looking forward to welcoming everyone back for the 2026–2027 school year. Wishing all of our families a restful, safe, and enjoyable summer.

School Cafeteria

Grade 7 and 8 students are reminded to bring a lunch for the remainder of the school year as the cafeteria is now closed. 

Locker Clean-Out

As we wrap up the school year, all students are asked to completely clear out their lockers.

Please remind your child to check their locker and ensure that all school-related materials are returned and all personal belongings, including clothing and other items, are taken home this week.

Please note that any items remaining in lockers after June 25 will be removed and disposed of.

Plan of Care and/or Medical Documentation

If your child has a serious medical condition (asthma, life-threatening allergy, diabetes, epilepsy/seizures, concussion/head injury), you need to inform the school using the Life-Threatening Medical Condition Verification Form. You will also need to submit the appropriate condition-specific Plan of Care form.

These forms are linked on the Life-Threatening Medical Condition Verification Form and available on the board website. If your child carries an epipen or other life-saving medications, we will also require an Administration of Medication form to be completed. If the required Plan of Care form has previously been submitted to the school and there are no changes to be made, please complete the Plan of Care Annual Review Sheet. If you need to make a change to your plan of care, please submit a new plan of care form.  Please submit all forms to Kim.Geha@ocsb.ca.

Mandatory Graduation Rehearsal

Date: Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
Location: St. Francis Xavier High School
All graduates are required to attend. Caps, gowns, and guest tickets will be distributed at this time.

Graduation Ceremony

Date: Thursday, June 25, 2026
Graduates arrive at 8:00 a.m.
Ceremony begins at 9:00 a.m.
Location: TD Place
Main Entrance: Gate 2
Wheelchair Access: Gate 1 (seating in Section 17)

Families are encouraged to check the Grad Website regularly for updates. We look forward to celebrating this important milestone with our graduates and their families.

Graduation Ceremony Information

Graduation is one of the most important moments of the school year. It is a chance to celebrate our students, recognize everything they have accomplished, and share that pride with their families and our staff. As schools prepare for their ceremonies, the focus should stay on our graduates. This is their moment. Creating a welcoming and respectful atmosphere helps ensure that every student and every guest feels comfortable and can fully enjoy the celebration. 

The Ministry of Education has been clear that graduation ceremonies are meant to honour student achievement and are not intended to be a place for political expression or for promoting personal or institutional viewpoints, especially where they may be divisive. Keeping the focus on students helps ensure that graduation remains what it should be, a positive and memorable experience for everyone. 

Important Reminder: 18+ Consent Required for Communication 

As we approach the end of the school year, we would like to remind families of information shared earlier in the semester and available on our school website regarding students who are 18 years of age or older.

Once a student turns 18, they are considered an adult under Ontario privacy legislation (MFIPPA). As a result, schools are not permitted to share personal student information, including graduation status, attendance, and event details, with parents or guardians without the student’s written consent.

To ensure you continue to receive important year-end updates (including graduation information), consent must be provided through the Over 18+ Parent Portal Consent Access form. (login to Parent Portal to access the form)

Students who are 18 or older can complete this form by logging into their Compass Student Portal using their OCSB credentials, navigating to the Forms section, and submitting the required consent.

Once submitted, parent/guardian access to applicable information will be updated by the next school day.

Chromebook & Charger Returns

As we approach the end of the school year, students are encouraged to return Chromebooks and chargers as early as possible.

Return Deadlines:

• Grade 12: Friday, June 19\

• Grades 9–11: Tuesday, June 23 (or after their last exam/RST)

Please note that devices will be remotely locked shortly after these deadlines.

Free Summer Trips for Youth Aged 11 - 18, OC Transpo Summer Change of Access

Important Details:

To ensure a smooth transition, we’d like to clarify the following points:

• Existing Cards REMAIN ACTIVE: Existing student cards will continue to work for free transit until September 1st. Students do not need a new card if they already have an active OSTA student pass.

• No Summer Replacements: OSTA will not be able to replace any lost cards over the summer. If a student loses their card, they will need to purchase a new PRESTO card.

• Proof of Age Required: When setting up or updating a PRESTO card, students must bring a valid proof of age to have their fare type set to the "Youth" discount.

• Timeline: Starting September 1, students with PRESTO cards can ride free after 5 pm weekends and holidays. Eligible students will receive new student passes from OSTA that will work any time.

Register for OSTA’s First Rider Event for Newly Registered Families

Riding a school bus is an important aspect of your child’s education journey. As part of this journey, Ottawa Student Transportation invites you to attend their First Rider Event held on Sunday, August 23, 2026. All are welcome!

First Rider is a great opportunity for your child(ren) to learn about being safe on their way to and from school. This integrated 45-minute session provides elementary school-age children and their families with the essential skills to navigate their commute safely. Combining hands-on bus training with interactive pedestrian practice, this comprehensive program ensures a confident start to the school year. For more details and to register, visit OSTA online.

Become an Adult Crossing Guard 

The Ottawa Safety Council is officially recruiting for the upcoming 2026/2027 school year, and they are looking for dedicated individuals from our community to help keep our students safe.

• Positions are available across all wards in the City of Ottawa. This is a fantastic opportunity to support our students on their daily commute.

• The Perks: Supplemental income, short shifts (40 minutes to 1.5 hours), fresh air, and a direct way to keep our community safe.

Bilingual WalkSafe Presenters

The council is also looking for two bilingual presenters to teach students about road safety.

The Perks: This is an ideal role for retired French teachers or educators who want to stay involved in school communities.
